What BC-6D Control does
The BC-6000 reports beyond a conventional five-part differential, including reticulocyte analysis, and its quality control material carries assigned values across that extended parameter set. Using a control intended for a simpler analyzer would leave the additional parameters unverified, which defeats the purpose of running the higher-specification instrument in the first place: a laboratory reporting reticulocytes needs to be able to show those results are controlled, not merely that the basic count is. Handling follows the same rules as the other hematology controls, and the material is a stabilised cell suspension with a short open-vial life.
How Philippine laboratories run it
This is the control for the high-end hematology bench, so it is found in tertiary hospitals and the larger referral laboratories rather than across the general market, and its volume is correspondingly lower than BC-5D. The laboratories that need it are usually the ones with the most formal accreditation requirements and the most complete quality control documentation, which in practice means QC frequency is higher rather than lower. Plan it from the documented QC policy rather than from an assumption that a lower-volume item needs less cover.
