What Probe Cleanser does

Probe cleanser is run on the analyzer’s maintenance schedule to clear protein and cellular residue from the sample probe and the flow path. Rinse solution handles the sample-to-sample carryover during a run, but it does not remove the film that builds up over days of use, and that is what the cleanser is for. Skipping the cycle is a common and under-recognised cause of carryover flags, rising background counts and gradually drifting results, none of which announce themselves as a maintenance problem. Because the residue accumulates slowly, the deterioration is gradual enough that a bench can adapt to it without noticing until quality control finally fails.

How Philippine laboratories run it

This is consistently the highest-line-count item in Framar’s entire delivery record, which reflects how many analyzers are in service rather than heavy use per instrument, and it is used across the BC range rather than being tied to one analyzer family. That makes it the one hematology consumable a multi-analyzer laboratory can order as a single line. The practical risk is that a cleanser cycle takes the analyzer out of service for a few minutes, so it is the maintenance step most often deferred when a shift is behind, and deferring it repeatedly is what produces the problems above. Every preventive maintenance visit Framar performs checks that it is being run.

Buying Probe Cleanser in the Philippines

Probe Cleanser is supplied for the BC-6000, BC-5390, BC-760 and BC-780, BC-5120 and BC-30. We deliver it with CD80 Detergent and BC-30 reagent set, because a run held up waiting on a separate order costs the same shift a stock-out does. Delivery is scheduled against how fast your bench actually gets through it, which for a consumable is set by workload rather than by a calendar. How we plan hematology supply.

Questions about Probe Cleanser

How is probe cleanser different from rinse solution?

They do different jobs on different timescales. Rinse clears the flow path between samples during a run so one patient does not carry over into the next. Cleanser is a periodic maintenance wash that removes the protein and cellular film building up over days of use, which rinse cannot shift. Neither substitutes for the other.

What happens if the cleanser cycle keeps getting skipped?

The deterioration is gradual, which is what makes it dangerous. Residue accumulates, background counts creep up, carryover flags start appearing and results drift, but no single event announces the cause. Benches often trace it to the analyzer or the reagent lot before they trace it to a maintenance cycle that has been deferred for weeks.
